How to Delete a Location

Deleting a location in LogCentral is a permanent action that removes the location and all associated data from your organization. This article explains the process and important considerations before proceeding with deletion.

⚠️ Warning: Location deletion is irreversible. All logs, configurations, and settings associated with the location will be permanently lost.

When you delete a location, the following data is permanently removed:

  • All log data associated with the location
  • IP whitelist configurations and filtering rules
  • Location settings and configurations
  • Historical audit log entries related to the location (visible in organization audit logs for 90 days, but location context is lost)

If your location was imported from Cisco Meraki:

  • The location will be removed from LogCentral
  • Your Meraki integration remains connected
  • The Meraki network itself is not affected
  • You can re-import the network later if needed by disconnecting and reconnecting your Meraki integration

To manage your Meraki integration, navigate to /organizations/:orgId/integrations.

Before deleting a location, consider:

  1. Export important logs - Once deleted, log data cannot be recovered
  2. Document IP whitelist settings - If you need to recreate the location, you’ll need to reconfigure IP filtering
  3. Review audit logs - Check /organizations/:orgId/audit-logs to understand recent location activity
  4. Verify permissions - Ensure you have the necessary organization role to delete locations

You might delete a location when:

  • Decommissioning a physical site or network
  • Cleaning up test/development locations
  • Removing duplicate or incorrectly configured locations
  • Reorganizing your location structure
  • Audit logs: Organization audit logs retain the deletion event for 90 days
  • Log data: All location-specific logs are immediately and permanently deleted
  • No recovery: There is no “undo” or recovery option after deletion
  1. Export logs first: Download any logs you may need for compliance or historical reference
  2. Screenshot configurations: Capture IP whitelist settings and other configurations before deletion
  3. Communicate with team: Notify team members who may be accessing the location
  4. Check dependencies: Review if any external systems or integrations rely on this location

Once a location is deleted:

  • The location disappears from your organization immediately
  • Team members lose access to the location and its logs
  • The deletion is recorded in your organization’s audit logs
  • IP addresses previously whitelisted for this location are removed
